Pambili ng maintenance! Koko Pimentel wants cash gifts for 80-, 90-year-olds
Senator Koko Pimentel wants to grant cash gift to Filipinos who would reach 80 and 90 years old and not just those who turn 100 years of age under the current law.
He filed on November 25 Senate Bill No. (SBN) 1178 to amend Section 2 of Republic Act (RA) 10868 or the Centenarians Act of 2016.
Under RA 2016, Filipinos who live to 100 years – whether living in the Philippines or abroad – will receive cash gift in the amount of P100,000.
“Unfortunately, very few live to reach 100 years to enjoy this special benefit,” the senator from Cagayan de Oro City said.
Pimentel believes that “extending the same cash gift to Filipinos reaching the age of 80 and 90 years old will benefit more Filipinos and honor more of them accordingly.”
SBN 1178 mandates that, “All Filipinos who reach the age of 80, 90, and 100 years old whether residing in the Philippines or abroad should be honored with the following: a letter of felicitation from the President congratulating the celebrant for his or her longevity; a cash gift of P20,000 upon reaching the age of 80, P30,000 upon reaching the age of 90; and P100,000 upon reaching the age of 100.”
“All persons who have reached the age of 80 and 90 years old prior to the effectivity if this Act shall receive the total cash gift corresponding thereto,” Pimentel said.
