The Nayong Pilipino Foundation is opposing a move to build a temporary COVID-19 vaccination site on its idle property in Entertainment City despite the endorsement by COVID-19 Inter-Agency Task Force Secretary Carlito Galvez Jr. and Health Secretary Francisco Duque III.
Bilyonaryo Enrique Razon, through the ICTSI Foundation, offered to fund the vaccination center’s construction but it was blocked by the NPF board because of its plan to build a nursery, park ranger station and linear park on the property.
The NPF board, which is composed of appointees of President Rodrigo Duterte, wants the so called “Project Sambayanihan” to be completed by the time the administration ends in 2022.
The park executives told Razon’s group to prove there are no other viable sites in Metro Manila to build a vaccination site, with the aim of having the initiative shelved.
Razon had planned to tap renowned architect Felino Palafox Jr. to design the vaccination site, which was projected to have a capacity for 12,000 persons.
