Panelo on Albayalde’s indictment: ‘DOJ just did its job’

Reacting to the indictment of former Philippine National Police chief Oscar Albayalde over a 2013 anti-drug operation in Pampanga, Malacañang said on Friday the Department of Justice (DOJ) “just did its job.”
The DOJ yesterday found probable cause to charge Albayalde and 12 other police officers with graft in relation to the ninja cops’ case.
“General Albayalde will now have a forum to address the charge. He can avail of all legal remedies. The Constitution accords him the presumption of innocence until a competent court finds him guilty beyond reasonable doubt,” Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo said.
Panelo said the Duterte administration will let the law take its course.
“Let the courts render its judgment in accordance with the law. The administration remains steadfast against illegal drugs as well as police officers who abuse their authority. Such policy remains unchanged,” he added.
It can be recalled that Albayalde left his post a few weeks before his scheduled retirement on November 8.
