Panggulo ng Pilipinas! Barangay captain blasts Alan Cayetano for spreading fake news on cash aid
A barangay captain has accused House Speaker Alan Peter Cayetano of confusing the public by claiming all families will receive financial assistance from the government during the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) crisis when the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) set a cap on the number of beneficiaries.
In a Facebook live video, Talisay, Batangas barangay captain Abdul Aziz Natanauan told Cayetano to clarify his statements on the government’s Social Amelioration Program (SAP) because barangay captains are at the receiving end of people’s ire.
Natanauan said DSWD only gave his barangay 821 SAP forms for the cash aid when 2,500 families are living in the community.
Natanauan said his constituents have been showing a video of Cayetano guaranteeing assistance to all families as proof they’re also eligible for the cash aid.
Cayetano had said that some 18 million families stand to benefit from the cash aid to be given by the government during the COVID-19 crisis, with the amount ranging from P5,000 to P8,000.
DSWD spokesperson Irene Dumlao has clarified that only poor families identified by the local government will receive cash aid based on information they will indicate in the Social Amelioration Card form.
