Senator Francis Pangilinan is encouraging the public to wear an environment-friendly mask to defend against the coronavirus infection.

Pangilinan spotted abaca-made face masks by small farmers and endorsed them on his Facebook page. He said patronizing local products will not only keep one safe but also promote local businesses and protect the environment.

“Abaca handmade face masks? Why not!” he wrote on Facebook. “Nakatulong na tayo sa ating mga Abaca farmer, napoprotektahan pa natin ang ating kapaligiran,” he said.

His latest message included the hashtags #NoToSingleUsePlastic, #SupportLocalFarmers and #BuyLocal.
