Paolo Duterte throws shade at Cayetano: ‘Wag mo bastusin ang asawa ng kalaban mo!
By JOHN CARLO M. CAHINHINAN
Davao City Rep. Paolo Duterte is apparently left sickened by the mudslinging hurled by Taguig-Pateros Rep. Alan Peter Cayetano in the hotly-contested speakership battle in the 18th Congress.
Without mentioning the name of the Former Foreign Affairs secretary, Duterte took a swipe at Cayetano for disrespecting the wife of Marinduque Rep. Lord Allan Velasco.
Cayetano reportedly claimed that Velasco’s wife Wen allegedly sabotaged the term-sharing agreement proposed by President Rodrigo Duterte himself. Duterte earlier wanted Cayetano and Velasco to split the term of House Speaker to break the impasse but the Marinduque solon backed out at the last minute.
Velasco earlier said the proposed term-sharing was “divisive and will only impede the passage of important pieces of legislation that this administration needs to fulfill its mandate and promise to the people.”
The President’s eldest son stressed that Cayetano’s alleged antics only cheapens the speakership race.
“Ilabas po ninyo ako sa inyong marumi, mapanghamak, bastos, at nakakawala ng respeto na uri ng pulitika,” he said.
Duterte said he might just be a newbie in the Lower House but the latest developments should enlighten in his colleagues on who they will vote as the next leader of the House of Representatives.
