Para hadlangan ang krimen! Duterte OKs law to require bigger, readable plates for motorcycles

President Rodrigo Duterte has signed into law the Motorcycle Crime Prevention Act, which will impose bigger plate numbers on motorcycles.
Duterte signed Republic Act (RA) 11235 on March 8, 2019, but a copy of the law was released only today.
The new law requires every motorcycle bigger, readable and color-coded number plates to deter, if not totally stop, crimes perpetrated by criminals on board motorcycles.
Section 5 of the measure said readable number plates must be displayed in both the front and back sides ofa motorcycle and should be made of suitable and durable material.
“The Land Transportation Office shall also devise a color scheme of the readable number plates for every region in the Philippines where a motorcycle is registered for quick and easy identification,” it further said.
RA 11235 sanction owners of motorcycles used in the perpetration of crimes with fines and jail terms,
An initial funding of P150 million will be appropriated for the implementation of the measure.
