As the coronavirus puts the elderly at most risk, it is crucial to keep the seniors safe and cared for.

Senator Risa Hontiveros has mobilized resources to send food and medicine assistance to senior citizens who have been advised to stay home during the coronavirus lockdown.

The “Lakas-Resistensiya packs” are being delivered by Hontiveros and her team to the elderly living in select communities in Metro Manila.

Let’s make sure na ligtas at healthy sila,” Hontiveros said in a Facebook post.

The relief package given includes milk, rice, canned tuna, face masks and vitamins. Among the beneficiaries are the senior citizens in Quezon City, Malabon City and Caloocan City.

“Nagbaba tayo ng bigas, gatas, canned tuna, crackers, face masks, at multivitamins para sa 1,300 Lakas-Resistensiya packs na ibibigay sa kanilang senior citizens,” Hontiveros said in another Facebook post.

“Para sa first batch, nakapag-turn over na tayo ng supplies para sa 4,700 nakatatanda. May delivery pa tayo sa mga susunod na araw!” she said.

Hontiveros also thanked the kind donors and volunteers for helping with the relief operations for the elderly.

Apart from the senior citizens, the senator sent assistance package to health workers and frontliners in three hospitals in Metro Manila. She thanked the coronavirus frontliners for for sacrifices and service to the nation.

You give us hope. You are always in my thoughts and prayers. Nagmamahal, Sen. Risa,” she said.

Hontiveros earlier announced plans to file file a bill penalizing discrimination against frontliners once the Senates returns to session next month.
