Para mas magaan sa bulsa: Tito Sotto urges private schools: Allow tuition payment by installment
Senate President Vicente “Tito” Sotto III called on private schools Tuesday (June 9) to allow the staggered payment of tuition fees to ease the burden of parents whose incomes may have been affected by the COVID-19 crisis.
In a statement, Sotto said private schools should formulate various payment schemes that parents can avail themselves of for the coming school year 2020-2021.
“Makatutulong ng husto kung pahahabain ng mga paaralan ang panahon ng pagbabayad ng mga school fees upang magkaroon ng mas mahabang panahon ang mga magulang para magawan ng paraan ang kanilang ipambabayad para sa pag-aaral ng kanilang mga anak,” he said.
Sotto said the Department of Education should also propose payment schemes that would help parents keep their children in private schools.
The Department of Labor and Employment said millions of workers have been displaced in recent months after business owners were forced to either close shop or reduce their workforce due to the strict quarantine regulations imposed nationwide to slow down the spread of COVID-19.
Enrolment for basic and secondary education in public schools is now ongoing. The DepEd has announced that the Academic Year 2020-2021 will open on August 24 and close in April 2021.
