Para maturuan ng leksyon! Poe urges commuters to sue DOTR TWG over motorcycle taxi study
Senator Grace Poe called on stakeholders Monday (January 20) to file cases against the technical working group (TWG) created by the Department of Transportation (DOTr) if it will not push through with the study on motorcycle taxis.
Poe made the suggestion as she slammed the TWG for what she called an poorly thought of decision to abruptly stop the pilot run for motorcycle taxis. Antonio Gardiola Jr., head of the TWG told senators at a Senate hearing that the termination of the study was a result of the cases filed against them by a motorcycle taxi operator.
“Hindi talaga pinag-isipan (recommendation). Nakita n’yo naman hindi makasagot kanina. Sabi nila kaya raw kinansel dahil ang main concern daw is safety,” she said after the hearing.
Poe, however, said the TWG’s claim that it was unable to get data from government agencies was untrue because the Senate committee on public services, which she heads, obtained the information necessary.
“The Senate will continue with its hearings to expedite the passage of that law allowing motorcycle taxis,” she said.
“On the other hand, I will encourage the private citizens and stakeholders to file a case against the department if they fail to continue with the study,” Poe added.
The senator said the pilot run is important because it will be the basis for Congress to pass laws legalizing motorcycle taxis.
