Para pumasa: Villar seeks power franchise, copies Loren son’s bill

It’s the sure way to get Congress’ nod.

Former Senator Manny Villar is out flourishing as a businessman, with power being his latest venture.

The politiko followed the footsteps of Sen. Loren Legarda’s son Lean Leviste with a foray into the power business. His target area: Siquijor.

Villar ran to Congress and got Batangas Rep. Raneo Abu to sponsor House Bill 8793 granting a power franchise to his firm, Siquijor Island Power Corp.

The bill is an exact replica of the approved measure that grants a similar franchise to Legarda’s son. But it appears they copied the proposal too much, as the Sipcor measure still carries a line granting the franchise to Leviste’s Solar Para Sa Bayan.
