Para sa bayan: Duterte tells PDP-Laban factions to end leadership squabble
It took a presidential intervention to put an end to the conflict between two factions of the ruling PDP-Laban party.
President Duterte met with the two camps of the administration party and urged them to resolve their differences and unite. Present in the meeting at a hotel in Manila were the group led by Senator Aquilino Pimentel III and the faction led by Rogelio Garcia.
Go, also interim national auditor of the party, said the meeting ended with a commitment from the two groups “to work things out.” Another party caucus will be held soon “with hopes of having a stronger and united PDP-Laban party.”
Duterte is chairman of the PDP-Laban party.
Garcia’s group recently elected new party officers, replacing Pimentel and former Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez. But Pimentel’s camp that such assembly was not sanctioned by the party.
