Para walang gulatan: Grace Poe wants list of fees posted on ATMs
Senator Grace Poe wants banks to post a list of fees for different transactions on their automated teller machines (ATMs).
Poe said customers need to be aware how much they will be charged for a particular transaction even before using the ATM, particularly if it’s of a different bank.
“Saka dapat may nakalagay din doon, ‘pag pinasok mo ang ATM mo, bago ka makagawa ng isang transaksyon tatanungin ka, ‘Okay lang ba sa iyo na babayaran mo ay P1.50, let’s say for this particular transaction, or P15,’ ‘pag sinabi mong ‘no’ dapat walang charge,” she said in an interview Monday (September 23).
The Senate committees on Banks, Financial Institutions and Currencies held a hearing with the committees on Trade, Commerce and Entrepreneurship; Labor, Employment and Human Resources Development; Science and Technology; and Ways and Means about the proposed adjustment in ATM fees.
Poe, chair of the Senate committee on banks, financial institutions and currencies, said the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas gave senators assurance that they will scrutinize each bank’s application to hike fees for ATM use.
“I think naman the Bangko Sentral is very careful in issuing approvals kasi babalikan din sila ‘nun,” she said.
Citing information from BSP officials at the hearing, Poe said any increase in ATM fees will only be between P1 and P3.
