Parang Dolphy: Vice Ganda refuses to run for Senate because he might win
You may not like Vice Ganda but he has more common sense than most candidates running for senator in 2019.
In ABS-CBN’s noon time program “It’s Showtime”, Vice Ganda confirmed that he received several offers to run for senator because his massive popularity would make him a shoo-in in the Magic 12.
“May kumukuha sa’kin na partido sa senador. Sira ulo ba kayo?” said Vice Ganda. “Sabi, ‘Mananalo ka.’ Oh, ngayon, pag mananalo, tatakbo? Sabi ko, ‘Buong buhay ko tumatakbo na ako, pagod na pagod na ako ‘no.’ Itigil na natin, ngayon na nga lang ako nagpapahinga,” he added.
Vice Ganda’s refusal to enter politics is reminiscent of late comedy king Dolphy’s disinterest in jumping from showbiz to politics. Dolphy knew his limitations and being popular was not enough to run for public office. “Baka manalo ako” was Dolphy’s oft-quoted remark.
