President Rodrigo Duterte appears to be so fond of Ilocos Norte Governor Imee Marcos that he has no problem talking to her even at a huge gathering.

In his speech at the National Information and Communications Technology Summit on June 22, Duterte mentioned Imee’s name nine times.

The governor was among the politikos present at the event.

“Nandito si Imee. Saan pa ‘yung magaganda dito? Wala man akong makita,” he joked.

When the governor laughed after Duterte said he doesn’t mind women in government posts related to tourism, the President said: “Malisyosya ka Marie. Imee.”

Duterte said Imee has been eagle-eyed about his flirting with other women.

“Hindi nandiyan si Imee. Binabantayan ‘yung landi ko, sige tingin. Itong si Imee. Sabi ko na, ‘Ma’am wala ka ng trabaho?'” he joked.

After repeating his rhetoric against drug pushers, Duterte said: “Ngayon, isang salita lang. Palakpak kayo kay nandiyan si Imee.”

The President asked Imee if she believes in God after he questioned the Bible’s account of creation and fall of man.

“How — how can you rationalize a God? Maniwala ka? Ikaw, Imee, maniwala ka?” he asked.

After regaling the audience with stories when he was mayor of Davao City, Duterte said Imee has a lot of stories to tell since she was a local politiko.

“Yan ang buhay ng mayor. Si Imee marami rin ‘yan,” he said.

Despite their closeness, however, it appears that Duterte was unaware that Imee isn’t an abogado.

After recalling one particular strict professor he had at the San Beda College of Law, Duterte asked Imee if she was taught by the same teacher as well.

“Hindi mo ba napropesor si Solidum, Imee?” he asked.
