Pasang-awa Duterte mocks Harvard, Wharton grads like Roxas: Nag-presidente ba kayo?
President Rodrigo Duterte has no regrets being a “pasang awa” or a student who barely passed his classes.
Duterte said that by eschewing the overachiever route, he had more time to play, enjoy drinking sessions with his buddies and chase ladies all his life.
“Akala ninyo kayo lang ang nag-aral. You know if you are smart okay lang. Ako 75 lang ako, okay lang ako. Since kindergarten hanggang college, 75 lang ako. Kaya maiyak-iyak ‘yang nanay ko. Sabi niya, ‘Rodrigo, ano ba ito?’ Sabi ko, ‘Ito na ‘yan ma. Ano man gawain ko kung 76?’ What do I need one point more? Pasa naman ako. Sabi ko dahan-dahan lang ako para umabot doon,” said Duterte in a speech in Manila
“Eh hindi na ako makalaro. Tapos nung high school hindi ka na maka-inom, hindi ka na makaligaw ng babae, ‘yung mga chikachik-chikachik diyan. Eh kung 75 okay lang ako,” he added.
Duterte said his life turned out better than other Ivy Leaguers who worked hard in school only to fall short of becoming president of the country.
“Totoo ‘yan ordinaryo lang ako. I do not have the credit — the credentials of ah Harvard. Narinig ko lang ‘yan, nabasa ko. I do not have the Watson award. Ah Wharton. P***** i**. ‘Yung Watson ‘yung ‘yung bilihan ng sabon? Nabuang na,” said Duterte.
“Sino ba ang nag — nag-Wharton? Ah si Roxas. Wharton-Wharton ka diyan. Roxas na-presidente?” said Duterte referring to Roxas, an undergraduate of the Wharton School of Economics, who lost in the 2016 presidential elections.
