Patay na kasi: Sandiganbayan junks raps vs. Elenita Binay’s co-accused in graft case
The Sandiganbayan 4th Division has dismissed the charges against former Makati City administrator Nicanor Santiago Jr., the co-accused of former Makati mayor Elenita Binay over the alleged anomalous purchases of equipment and furniture worth P232 million, after learning he has passed away.
The anti-graft court issued a resolution dismissing the charges after receiving last Dec. 7 the manifestation of the prosecution informing the Sandiganbayan about the death of Santiago.
The court noted that the prosecution manifested “it is not interposing any opposition to the dismissal of the cases against the accused.”
“Wherefore, let the cases against Nicanor Valenzuela Sanrtiago, Jr. be dismissed,” read the court’s resolution.
Under the charges, the wife of former vice president Jejomar Binay Sr. and her co-defendants are accused multiple counts of graft and malversation over the alleged anomalous purchases of equipment and furnitures worth P232 million from 1999 to 2001.
