PDP-Laban congs who won’t vote for Velasco will be punished — spox
PDP-Laban members who refuse to toe the line in the speakership race by not voting for its official bet, Marinduque Rep. Lord Allan Velasco, will face sanctions, the party’s campaign spokesperson Ron Munsayac said on Wednesday.
“Members of the PDP Laban who will defy its choice for Speakership will be sanctioned,” he warned amid reports that some factions of PDP Laban intend to support other candidates.
Sen. Manny Pacquiao on Wednesday announced that PDP Laban has chosen Velasco as its official candidate.
Velasco’s rivals are incoming Representatives Martin Romualdez of Leyte and Alan Peter Cayetano of Taguig.
“The PDP Laban Leadership led by Senator Koko Pimentel believes it is time to put emphasis and value to party discipline,” Munsayac said.
“As a political party, we will move and act as one. In the process, we are also strengthening the political party system here in the Philippines,” he added.
Some PDP Laban stalwarts are said to be supporting the camps of Romualdez or Cayetano.
Albay Rep. Joey Salceda, a PDP Laban member, said he and others were for Romualdez.
Cayetano, on the other hand, said he had secured the support of key PDP Laban members, including Ronnie Zamora of San Juan and Boyet Gonzales of Mandaluyong.
