PDP-Laban trims down Senate slate to 8

Ruling Partido Demokratiko Pilipino – Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban) has trimmed down its senatorial lineup for the 2019 polls to eight following a leadership assembly attended by party chair President Rodrigo Duterte.
PDP-Laban President Aquilino “Koko” Pimentel III told Politiko in a chance interview after the assembly Saturday (September 1) that they have picked eight people who are “already interested” in running next year.
The list includes Special Assistant to the President Christopher “Bong” Go, who until now, has been adamantly denying that he would be running for senator despite having tarpaulins and banners scattered around the metro and frequent public appearances.
While the list they have come up with tonight is not yet final, it includes politikos who are “leaning towards sure” in their candidacy for the 2019 elections, Pimentel said.
“‘Di pa rin sure ‘yun pero mayroon nang eight na nagsabi na they are ready to go,” he said.
“So four more slots to go kasi walo na out of 12,” he said.
Here is the new senatorial lineup of PDP-Laban for next year’s polls, according to Pimentel:
Senator Aquilino “Koko” Pimentel III
Special Assistant to the President Christopher “Bong” Go
Rep. Zajid Mangudadatu
Rep. Monsour del Rosario
Rep. Dakila Cua
Rep. Karlo Nograles
Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque
Presidential political adviser Francis Tolentino
Noticeably absent are re-electionist Senators Cynthia Villar, Juan Edgardo “Sonny” Angara, Joseph Victor “JV” Ejercito, Grace Poe and Nancy Binay, who were included in the 22-man “long list” of the ruling party.
Also not included is Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte, who was leading in the internal poll conducted among party members who attended the leadership assembly.
“Mahirap ilagay sa sure kasi she has not even declared [if she will run] eh,” Pimentel said.
