The traffic situation on EDSA will be reduced by “20 to 30 percent” in the second half of 2020, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) said.

In a media briefing in Malacañang Wednesday, Secretary Mark Villar said the Metro Manila Skyway Stage 3 Project will be delivered “by April or May” and is expected to relieve EDSA of 100,000 vehicles.

The NLEX Harbor Link project, which will be completed in March, will decongest EDSA of 30,000 vehicles, added Villar.

“Starting this year, well see every year magkakaroon po ng drastic improvement sa EDSA. As early as second half this year mababawasan na po ng traffic ng EDSA by almost 20 to 30 percent,” according to him.

The secretary also assured the entire EDSA decongestion program will be completed within the Duterte administration.

“Yes. That was the fact for the past few years, the President has personally been active in the right of way of these flagship projects and nag-assign kami ng mga teams para tutukan itong mga EDSA decongestion projects,” he said.
