Philippines lifts ban on official trips to Canada
By Prince Golez
The Philippine government has lifted the ban on official travels to Canada.
This was confirmed by Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea on Tuesday.
The ban was lifted effective immediately, said Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo.
Medialdea last May issued a memorandum advising department secretaries and heads of agencies, government-owned and controlled corporations, and government financial institutions not to issue travel permits to Canada.
The move stemmed from Canada’s failure to take back truckloads of garbage that were shipped to Manila six years ago.
