The Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) has taken up the cudgels for photographers amid the ban imposed by the Philippine Southeast Asian Games Organizing Committee (Phisgoc) on them regarding the coverage of the 2019 SEA Games’ opening ceremony.
Photographers and photojournalists received word Saturday (November 30) that they will be allowed to cover the event as PSC voided Phisgoc’s ban.
Phisgoc, which is led by House Speaker Alan Peter Cayetano, didn’t say why photographers were banned from covering the opening ceremony at the Philippine Arena.
The ban prompted the Photojournalists’ Center of the Philippines (PCP) to write an open letter to Cayetano asking that the ban be lifted.
It’s unknown, however, if the ban on broadcasting the opening ceremonies on Facebook has been removed as well.
The opening ceremony will feature a number of Filipino performers, including KZ Tandingan, Iñigo Pascual, Lani Misalucha, Christian Bautista, Aicelle Santos, Jed Madela, Elmo Magalona, The TNT Boys, Ana Fegi, and Robert Seña.
They will be joined on stage by Black Eyed Peas member, Filipino-American Apl.d.Ap.
