Ping says Duque admission of need to re-strategize fight vs COVID a ‘good start’: Pero kaya ba talaga?
First, the good news. Health Secretary Francisco Duque III is off to a good start with his admission there is a need to recalibrate the government’s fight against COVID-19.
Now, the bad news. Sen. Panfilo Lacson is asking if Duque can really act on it.
“At least he already admitted the DOH has to re-strategize. That’s good enough for a start. But could they really do it? That’s another question. At this point when we are already tops in Southeast Asia in terms of infection,” Lacson said in an interview on ANC.
In a separate interview on CNN Philippines, Lacson said the Philippines does not appear to be succeeding against the pandemic.
Still, he said it is “consoling” to hear Duque admit the need to re-strategize the government’s approach.
“So far I would say we are not succeeding in our fight against COVID-19. Kung No. 1 spot na tayo sa SE Asia, something must be wrong. It’s more or less consoling to hear Sec Duque talking about re-strategizing ang pag-approach sa COVID-19 pandemic,” he said.
