Senator Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr. just happened to meet Senator Juan Ponce Enrile by accident at the latter’s 91st birthday party at the Philippine National Police General Hospital last Feb. 14.

The PNP has denied accusations it is giving special treatment to Revilla by allowing him to attend Enrile’s birthday celebration even if he is detained at the PNP Custodial Center, saying he sought permission to be at the hospital for treatment for the chest pains he suddenly experienced.

PNP spokesperson Chief Supt. Generoso Cerbo Jr. said that based on the report of the Headquarters Support Service (HSS) that accompanied the senator to the hospital, Revilla and Enrile only met by “accident” and there was an exchange of pleasantries between the two senators.

However, it was unclear how Revilla managed to see Enrile by accident considering that he was supposed to seek treatment at the hospital’s emergency ward. Photos showed by the prosecution to reporters earlier this week showed a man resembling Revilla sitting at the party held for Enrile’s birthday.

Former Finance undersecretary Milwida Guevara has claimed seeing Revilla at Enrile’s party. She said the actor-senator was only allowed to stay briefly at the 91-year-old senator’s party.

Revilla and Enrile are detained for the plunder and graft charges filed against them in connection with the pork barrel scam. Enrile is under hospital detention at the PNP General Hospital.
