Profit wins with Duterte veto of anti-endo bill, Villanueva says

Senator Joel Villanueva is not giving up on pursuing the approval of a bill ensuring security of tenure of Filipino workers in the country despite its latest presidential veto.

President Duterte has exercised his veto power on the anti-endo bill, saying legitimate job-contarcting should still be allowed. Duterte reached the decision after several business groups made last-minute appeals for his veto of the security of tenure bill.

Reacting to the presidential veto of the SOT bill, Villanueva has deplored that “profit wins again,” alluding to the interest of business groups that lobbied for the veto of the measure. He said it was about time to consider the welfare of workers.

“We are always concerned of profit losses. Ang hiling po sana natin sa usapin ng Security Of Tenure ay makiisa sa mga mangaggawa na ang iniisip lagi ay pangtustos sa kanilang pamilya tuwing ma e-ENDO,” Villanueva tweeted.

“Unfortunately, profit wins again with the veto of the SOT bill. #notgivingup,” he said.
