The camp of Vice President Leni Robredo has accused the group of Senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. of having lied to the Supreme Court (SC), sitting as Presidential Electoral Tribunal (PET), about the Laguna outing issue.
“The Honorable Tribunal deserves no less than the truth from protestant Marcos,” read the counter-manifestation filed by her legal counsel, lawyer Romulo Macalintal, before the PET on Wednesday (July 11).
Rebredo’s camp filed the counter-manifestation after the Marcos camp on Monday (July 9) asked the PET to investigate the June 24 outing in Pansol, Laguna which he said was attended by one of her party revisors, Osmundo Abulayan.
Marcos told the PET the act is prohibited under the law as he accused Robredo trying to influence the PET officers and revisors who are involved in the recount of his election protest against her.
However, Macalintal reminded the PET that it already conducted an investigation and “some of the personalities involved were already meted with penalties.”
“Surprisongly, it is only after more than two weeks that protestant Marcos is asking for an investigation,” Macalintal pointed out.
“Protestant Marcos is asking for an investigation despite being fully aware that the Honorable Tribunal already conducted one,” the lawyer said.
Apart from this, Macalintal said the Marcos camp was also “well aware of the said outing as they were invited as well.”
“Worse, protestant Marcos feigns ignorance when by the actions of his own revisor, they were not only fully aware but acquiesced to the said outing by giving snacks,” he said.
With this, Macalintal asked the PET to release closed circuit television (CCTV) footage on June 22 which showed that Roderick Miranda, one of the supervisors of Marcos, delivered snacks to the outing to the revisor area of the SC compound where the recount is being held.
“This way the name of protestee Robredo and her revisor will be cleared from the unjust and malicious accusation made by protestant Marcos in his Manifestation,” he said.
