State prosecutors have asked the Sandiganbayan to transfer Senator Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr. from the Philippine National Police Custodial Center to a facility run by the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) amid reports he attended Senator Juan Ponce Enrile’s birthday party even while in detention.
In an opposition to Revilla’s motion for check up, the prosecution team said it has received information that Revilla attended Enrile’s 91st birthday party at the PNP General Hospital last Feb. 14.
“If this information recently received by the prosecution is accurate, it confirms and validates prior reports that Revilla is being accorded special privileges while in detention ay the PNP Custodial Barracks,” the motion read.
The prosecution team said Revilla’s claim that he’s suffering from pain in the heels is entirely unsupported by “any convincing evidence.”
The prosecutors showed reporters photos showing a man resembling Revilla mingling with other guests at Enrile’s party.
Revilla had earlier asked the court for permission to seek treatment for the pain he is feeling in his heels and lumbar region.
In a separate statement, Revilla maintained he went to the hospital on Feb. 14 because of cold sweats, stiffness and pain on the neck and head.
“On February 14, at about 4:25 in the afternoon, I was rushed to the PNP General Hospital after experiencing cold sweats, stiffness and pain on the back my head and neck, and a debilitating migraine attack. It appeared that I had a spike in my Blood Pressure,” Revilla said.
“It is not true that I was at the Hospital to visit Senator Juan Ponce Enrile. I did not go to his room as I did not even know where that was… The Special Prosecutors have again gone lengths to propagate lies and put me in a bad light,” he added.
