Foreign Affairs Secretary Teodoro “Teddyboy” Locsin Jr. cursed on Twitter after a journalist asked why he hasn’t raised the alert level in Libya as fighting between government forces and the opposition army continues near Tripoli.

In a tweet posted Sunday (April 7), Manila Bulletin reporter Roy Mabasa suggested that the alert level in Libya be raised instead of waiting for a full blown war to erupt.

“There are about 1,000 Filipinos working in that country, mostly in hospitals & oil fields,” Mabasa said.

The alert level in Libya at the time the tweet was posted stood at 2, which meant Filipinos living in Libya are advised to takee precautionary measures for their safety.

In response to Mabasa’s tweet, Locsin said: “You wanna tell that to the Filipinos who need to work there to make ends meet. Putangina. When all hell breaks loose We in DFA will be in the fucking line of fire because we are not Yellow. ”

Netizens who are presumably working in Libya supported Locsin’s stand, tweeting they can still work and fighting is limited to certain areas outside Tripoli, Libya’s capital.
