Move over politikos, the four-legged friends reign supreme on August 26, the International Dog Day.
Get to meet the furry companions of politikos, including Batman, Mochi, Vega, Boogie, Kyoto, Yorme, Gunn, Goya, Kolette and Zion, as the world celebrates dogs, known as man’s best friend. The annual International Dog Day aims to raise awareness about dog adoption and safe environment for all dogs.
1. Batman
Camarines Sur Governor Migz Villafuerte is a proud parent of Batman. The young politiko often posts updates on Instagram about his four-legged best friend named after the dark knight.

2. Vega and Hippo
Senator Risa Hontiveros has nothing but love for her two dogs. She posted a “very important” photo with her beloved Vega and Hippo on World Dog Day.
“This is very important. August 26 is International Dog Day! This is Vega and Hippo. Tag me in photos of your fur babies, I’d love to see them! 😄♥️🐶,” she said.
3. Mochi
Senator Grace Poe cuddled up to Mochi, her precious corgi dog, to mark the World Dog Day. The canine is a constant companion of the senator while working at home.
“Working from home has its advantages! I get to spend time with this one 🐶 Happy International Dog Day! #InternationalDogDay #dogs #corgi #wfh #SenatorPaw #DogLover #MochiTheCorgi,” she said.
4. Biggie
Biggie, the adorbs pug of Tourism Secretary Bernadette Romulo Puyat, loves pandesal.
The precious canine often keeps the Cabinet member company during her Zoom meetings at home.
Puyat, in a recent Instagram post, said she is thankful for Biggie who lifts her spirits especially when she feels down.
5. Kyoto
Kyoto, the latest addition to the Andanar household, recently marked his 1st birthday.
Presidential Communications Secretary Martin Andanar recently spent a cozy post-birthday afternoon with the family dog.

6. Yorme
Manila Mayor Isko Moreno is another politiko who treats his dog like a kid. Mayor Isko even brings his dog “Yorme” to work and finds time playing with the young yet large caucasian ovcharka.
7. Gunn, Pancakes, Waffles
Former Senator JV Ejercito has a soft spot for pups. He adores Gunn, his loyal best friend. The family also has two other corgis named Waffles and Pancakes.
On Wednesday, he introduced on Twitter the new family dog, even asking for possible names for the young corgi.

Senator Ramon Revilla Jr and wife Bacoor City Mayor Lani Mercado are huge dog fans. The power politiko couple showed their beloved pooch Zion on Facebook, saying the schnauzer brings happiness to their family.
“Happy International Dog Day sa lahat ng kababayan nating dog parents! Nami-miss ko na kakulitan si Zion. Totoo nga namang ibang saya at galak ang hatid nila sa ating tahanan kaya naman madalas ay itinuturing na natin silang parte ng pamilya at hindi lang mga alaga. I’ll play with you soon, Zion!” Revilla said in a Facebook post.
