Pwede unli filing! SC: No limit to volume of petitions filed vs Anti-Terror Law
The Supreme Court (SC) has no control over how many petitions can be filed against the Anti-Terrorism Law.
SC Spokesperson Brian Hosaka pointed this out on Friday (Aug. 7) as the number of petitions against the law has already reached 26.
“The Court also has no control on the number of petitions that will be filed against the Anti Terrorism Act,” he admitted.
“The right to file a petition is a right given to a proper party, and the Court will treat each petition equally and similarly,” he pointed out.
Meanwhile, Hosaka assured that the SC is acting on every petition that has been filed as well asking the government officials who have been named as respondents to respond to these.
“The Court would need to hear the arguments of both sides, the petitioners and respondents,” he said.
