Quezon Service Cross recipient: Miriam Santiago in a class of her own, Angara says
The late Senator Miriam Defensor Santiago deserved to receive the prestigious Quezon Service Cross for her exemplary public service, according to Senator Sonny Angara.
Santiago made history when she became the first woman to receive the highest civil service award given by the Republic. The award was presented by President Duterte to the family of Santiago in a Malacañang ceremony last Monday.
“President Duterte just conferred the Quezon Service Cross to late Sen. Miriam Defensor Santiago. She deserves this highest civilian award because rare is the Filipino who had served in the judiciary, the Cabinet, and the legislature, and rarest is the one who served with brilliance, integrity, and distinction. She was a class of her own,” Angara said in a Facebook post.
“Congratulations to her family, former staff, and youth volunteers!” he added.
