‘Rabid’ Duterte fans sila! No public funds spent for Pinoy celebrities in Russia – Panelo
The government did not spend any public funds to bring along several Filipino celebrities to President Duterte’s trip to Russia, Presidential Spokesman Salvador Panelo said Thursday.
Panelo said the celebrities paid their own travel expenses to entertain the Filipino community during Duterte’s visit. He described the celebrities as “genuine and rabid fans” of the President.
“With regard to the show biz people who are here, as far as I know, when they entertain the Filipino community while waiting for the arrival of the President, they are not paid. They have been doing that during the presidential campaign. They just happen to be genuine and rabid fans of the PRRD,” he said.
“As far as I know these artistas came over Moscow on their own. The government did not spend for their fare and hotel accommodations,” he said.
Among the celebrities reportedly joining the President’s Russian journey are Cesar Montano, Philip Salvador, and comedian Moymoy Palaboy.
