A 32- year old former actor and model is now in the custody of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) in connection with the death of flight attendant Christine Dacera.
The witness was fetched by Deputy Director Ferdinand Lavin in Tacloban City on Friday (January 15).
“His name did not come up in the police report. He volunteered to come forward because he feared for his safety,’’ a source familiar with the case told Politiko.
The source said the former actor has significant information on the circumstances surrounding the death of Dacera, which could be a breakthrough in the investigation.
The source said the witness was “in the room,’’ but declined to elaborate.
The former actor described himself on social media as a freelance Artist / commercial model, and a former actor of GMA and ABS- CBN.
An NBI insider said the bureau is also looking into other details which could be vital in the investigation of Dacera’s death, such as who was the party organizer and if there was illegal drugs.
Dacera was said to have been found unconscious in the bath tub of room in City Gardens Hotel in Makati City, and was rushed to Makati Medical Center where she was declared dead on arrival. Her death certificate stated that caused of death was due to “ruptured aortic aneurysm”.
NBI launched an investigation into Dacera’s death after the apparent bungling of the investigation by the Philippine National Police who declared the incident as closed after filing homicide with rape case against three men who brought Dacera to the hospital.
The Makati City Prosecutor’s Office ordered the release of the men, who admitted to be the gay friends of the victim, for insufficient evidence that would implicate them in Dacera’s death.
