Reciprocate ‘kalinga’ of health workers: Legarda asks public to show discipline, follow health protocols

Former Senator Loren Legarda is asking the public to show discipline and compassion for health workers.

In an Instagram post, the Antique congresswoman urged people to follow health and safety protocols after the medical community pleaded for timeout from the surge of infections.

“As we continue the fight against COVID-19, let us also express our gratitude to all our frontliners and healthcare workers for their ‘kalinga’. Let us show also compassion and support for them by staying at home and following health and safety protocols,” she said.

“Let us SUPPORT our FRONTLINERS by showing DISCIPLINE,” she said.

Legarda’s healthcare tips are the following:

– Stay at home all the time.
– If you need to go out, wear a face mask and face shield at all times.
– Observe proper physical distancing in public places.
– Sanitize and wash your hands frequently.
– Sanitize before entering your homes.

“All instructions are simple, understandable, doable in English, Filipino and kinaraya. Please share to all. Let’s show Discipline🙏” the former senator said.

Doctors and nurses earlier issued an appeal to President Duterte to implement tougher lockdown in Metro Manila after the healthcare system has become overwhelmed with soaring COVID-19 cases.

Acting on the appeal of medical frontliners, Duterte agreed to impose modified enhanced community quarantine in Metro Manila, Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna and Rizal until August 18.

I had a busy Tuesday morning but glad that I was able to catch up and join the third episode of Road to 500, as we celebrate History Month this August. My gratitude to Prof. @xiao.chua and Ms. @kinnakwan for a very insightful discussion on the topic, “Humanity in the Filipino” from which we learned about the Filipino psyche and the concepts of ‘kapwa’ and ‘loob,’ and most especially the innate kindness that is most evident in us Filipinos. As we continue the fight against COVID-19, let us also express our gratitude to all our frontliners and healthcare workers for their ‘kalinga’. Let us show also compassion and support for them by staying at home and following health and safety protocols. Road to 500 is organized by the @nqc2021, in collaboration with my office and supported by the @nhcpofficial, the @depedphilippines, the @dfaphl, the @nccaofficial and the @natmuseumph. Surely, it’s a show you will enjoy learning from! 👍😊🌺 and so many viewers every time! A steady stream of history buffs, learners, interesting topics for all ages ! Please watch the show.
