Remulla backs timeout plea of medical frontliners: Public health trumps economy
Public health or economy? Cavite Governor Jonvic Remulla chooses to protect life.
As the country’s cases soared to an alarming rate beyond 100,000, Remulla has rallied behind the medical community’s plea for the return of stricter lockdown in Metro Manila to curb the collapse of the health care system.
Doctors and nurses earlier banded together to call for a timeout as the rapid increase in COVID cases have pushed the healthcare system on the brink of collapse.
According to Remulla, the Filipinos can always restore economic growth but cannot take back the loss of a life.
“On Medical Frontliners & Health Workers asking for timeout: We can always regain the economy but we can never quantify the loss that so many families are going through,” the governor wrote on Facebook.
“If the choice is between health or the economy? I choose health,” he added.
