Rhodora Canilao officially declared new Antique governor
Antique vice governor Rhodora Cadiao is now officially the new provincial goverbor following the implementation of the disqualification order against Exequiel Javier by the Western Visayas regional office of the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG-6).
On Tuesday, the DILG-6 team headed by Regional Director Anthony Nuyda went to Javier’s office to serve the writ of execution ousting him as provincial governor, which the Commission on Elections issued last Jan. 23.
However, when Nuyda’s team arrived at the governor’s office, no one was around to receive the order. The place has also been emptied of office equipment and appliances.
After posting a copy of the writ of execution on the governor’s office’s door, Nuyda went to the old capitol where Cadilao has been holding office since she took her oath as governor last week and presented her with a copy of the Comelec order.
Javier was disqualified by the Comelec for suspending his political rival, Valderrama town mayor Joyce Roquero during the election period for the 2013 midterm polls.
