The local government of Ormoc City is expected to distribute coronavirus vaccines to residents starting this July.
The planned vaccine distribution is made possible after Ormoc Mayor Richard Gomez signed a supply deal with British vaccine maker AstraZeneca.
Gomez formally inked the online purchase deal for the COVID-19 vaccines Sunday and shared a video of the historic moment on his Facebook page.
“Done!” Gomez said after affixing his virtual signature on the supply contract with the UK firm.
“We will just wait for the delivery of the vaccine allocation in Ormoc City,” he said.
Under the contract, Ormoc City has purchased 270,000 doses of the AstraZeneca vaccines. The vaccination drive will start in July 2021.
“Congratulations to the City of Ormoc and to its constituents!” the mayor’s post read.
