Food for the poor.
Cabinet Secretary Karlo Nograles has partnered with one of the country’s biggest companies to serve food for poor families.
Nograles, head of the government’s task force against hunger, joined on Friday philanthropist Cecile Ang at the food bank established by San Miguel Corp. through its compare social responsibility arm San Miguel Foundation in Tondo, Manila. The food bank is called “Better World Tondo.”
“Such an honor to meet a true philanthropist #CecileAng – a dedicated hunger warrior who spearheads #BetterWorldTondo,” Nograles said.
“In partnership with #RiseAgainstHunger, this is San Miguel Foundation’s major program to combat hunger, converting an old warehouse into a Food Bank to feed impoverished families with a potential of serving 30,000 households,” he said.
He said the food bank seeks to ensure “no food is wasted.” He said food corporations are encouraged to donate products so it is repurposed for a good cause.
“Mabuhay ka Cecile! May your tribe increase and the good work that you do multiply a hundredfold!” he said.
