Rivals on court but comrades on stage: Ateneo’s Jett Villarin, DLSU’s Jose Mari Jimenez join #MarcosNOTahero protest
Ateneo de Manila University (ADMU) and De La Salle University (DLSU) may be fierce rivals in the UAAP, but they are united in condemning the hero’s burial accorded to dictator Ferdinand Marcos last Nov. 18.
On Wednesday (Nov. 30), ADMU president Fr. Jose Ramon “Jett” Villarin and DLSU President Bro. Jose Mari Jimenez joined their students in the massive rally at the People Power Monument against Marcos’ burial at the Libingan ng mga Bayani.
At one point in the rally, Villarin and Jimenez went up the stage set up at the venue to address the youth who took part in the protest despite their busy schedules in school.
“Alam niyo ba kung ano ang nakakaadik bukod sa drugs? Kapangyarihan,” Villarin told the protesters.
Also present at the rally was University of the Philippines Diliman Chancellor Michael Tan.
Interestingly, ADMU clinched the right to face off against DLSU in the UAAP men’s basketball finals after winning against Far Eastern University in the ball game held on the same day as the protest.
