Rivals unite! UP, Ateneo urge students to wear black for UAAP basketball finals
Instead of wearing blue or maroon shirts, the student councils of the University of the Philippines Diliman and Ateneo de Manila University are urging those who will watch the finals game of the UAAP basketball tournament live Saturday (December 1) to wear black.
In a Facebook post, ADMU’s Sanggunian ng mga Paaralang Loyola said wearing black will be a protest against violence, misogyny and impunity.
Meanwhile, UP Diliman’s University Student Council (USC) said the so-called “Battle of Katipunan” goes beyond the fight for the championship title of the UAAP basketball tournament.
“[L]et us always remember that our struggles go beyond the game that we’re cheering for, and these struggles are always within our community,” it said.
The face off between the UP Fighting Maroons and Ateneo Blue Eagles will start at 3:30 p.m.
