Are you ready to go to defend the West Philippine Sea?
Actor Robin Padilla is taking a further step to help the country assert ownership of the West Philippine Sea in the face of the latest incursion of China.
Padilla has proposed the formation of a militia and asked for President Duterte’s consent to lead the recruitment of civilians.
The actor, a known supporter of Duterte, penned an open letter to the President about his proposal to recruit civilians for the militia. The envisioned militia will undergo training by the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP).
“Napakarami pong mga sibilyan ang nais magkaroon ng partisipasyon sa maaring maganap na confrontation dyan sa pinag aagawan na mga isla maliban pa ang mga pulitiko na maiinit sa confrontation,” Padilla said in a letter to the President.
“Sir, Let it be official and public, permission to recruit these interested personalities and organize a militia under the supervision and training of the armed forces of the Philippines,” he added.
Padilla is part of the reserve force of the Philippine Army.
In another Instagram post, Padilla said once he gets Duterte’s go signal, he will send application forms to people interested to join the militia. “Kailangan po kayo ng ating Inangbayan,” he said.
