Robredo accepts PDEA chief’s dare to join anti-drug ops: Bet ko ‘yan!
Vice President Leni Robredo has accepted the challenge of Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Director General Aaron Aquino to join an anti-drug operation to see how law enforcers pursue drug suspects.
Robredo expressed readiness to join law enforcers after Aquino dared her following their meeting with other members of the Inter-Agency Committee on Anti-Illegal Drugs (ICAD).
The Vice President and Aquino share the position of chairperson of the anti-drug body.
“Gustong-gusto ko iyan,” Robredo said.
Aquino said he wanted Robredo to join an anti-drug operation since she lacks experience in law enforcement.
“Kaya ma’am, I would ask you to join one of our operations. I will be there, together with you,” he told Robredo in a press conference after their meeting.
Aquino said Robredo should be with PDEA agents from the planning stage to the actual conduct of the anti-drug operation.
“Para ma-feel po ninyo kung paano po ang ginagawa ng ating law enforcement agents. Challenge ko po sa inyo, para kung meron kaming lapses, defects, makikita niyo,” he said.
Robredo has said she wants a fresh approach to the drug war, with no unnecessary killings of drug suspects.
