Robredo camp alarmed by rumors of Bongbong’s VP takeover next year

The camp of Vice President Leni Robredo is in a tizzy over rumors of a recount in the ballot for vice president will soon start without the supervision of the Presidential Election Tribunal.

Robredo Spokesperson Georgina Hernandez said: “Over the weekend, supporters of Vice President Leni Robredo expressed concern about alleged plans of recounting ballots without the direction of the Presidential Election Tribunal. The objective is to steal the vice presidency from VP Leni.”

The object of the Robredo camp’s concern is this text message which was being spread a day after the secret burial of the late President Ferdinand Marcos at the Libingan ng mga Bayani.

“Re: VP Protest case. Recount of ballots from 4-5 provinces will start end of November and will finish by December, deliberations after. You can bet early next year, we have a new VP. From a trusted source.” T

Robredo won the elections with 14,418,817 votes or just a hairline over Bongbong’s 14,155,344 votes.

The Robredo camp urged the public to be vgilant against “any extralegal movements” to railroad Marcos’ takeover of the vice president’s office.

“This fear and grave concern are exacerbated by the way the Marcoses sneaked the burial of the dictator from the Filipino public. To get what they desperately want, they have resorted to impunity and complete disregard for the rule of law,” said Robredo.

The PET is composed of the Supreme Court members who voted to uphold President Rodrigo Duterte’s order to give Marcos a soldier’s and president’s burial.
