Robredo camp insist Bongbong’s ‘fishing expedition’ shouldn’t be allowed: Talo na humihirit pa!
The camp of Vice President Leni Robredo believes former senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. shouldn’t be allowed to fish for evidence of election fraud against her.
Election lawyer Romulo Macalintal, the legal counsel of Robredo made this point, after the Supreme Court (SC), sitting as Presidential Electoral Tribunal (PET), has yet to rule on the results of the recount of the 2016 vice presidential elections in the pilot provinces of Camarines Sur, Iloilo and Negros Oriental.
Instead, the PET ordered the parties to comment on the results of the recount on the three pilot provinces as well as submit a memoranda concerning the third cause of action of Marcos in his electoral protest which is the annulment of the election results in the provinces of Lanao Del Sur, Basilan, and Maguindanao.
“He was asked to submit the three provinces that best exemplify the frauds alleged in his protest,” Macalintal pointed out about the pilot provinces picked by Marcos himself.
“Bakit ngayon na walang recovery doon sa tatlong pilot precincts na iyon, bigla kang magshi-shift sa another provinces?” the lawyer asked.
Macalintal pointed out that it is considered a fishing expedition if the PET allowed Marcos to look into other provinces for election fraud.
“Kapag pinayagan ito, that would be a fishing expedition. You are fishing for evidence,” he said.
“ng mangyayari niyan, maghahanap na nang maghahanap hanggang halos iyong 27 provinces na pinrotesta mo ay matapos na ma-examine ng Presidential Electoral Tribunal,” he lamented.
