It seems Vice President Leni Robredo could not keep up with the deep pockets of former Senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. in paying the Supreme Court (SC) sitting as Presidential Electoral Tribunal (PET).
After Marcos fully paid on Tuesday (July 11) the P66 million being asked by the PET for his electoral protest, Robredo has appealed if she could defer the payment this July 14 of the remaining P7.4 million of the P15.4 million asked by the tribunal.
“Nakiusap kami sa mga mahistrado kung puwedeng payagan na huwag munang magbayad sa Biyernes doon sa remaining cash deposit at binigyan naman kami ng adisyonal na panahon,” said her counsel, lawyer Bernadette Sardillo.
Robredo had already deposited on May 2 to the PET P8 million.
She noted the first tranche came from her own pocket as well as loans from relatives of her late husband, Interior Secretary Jesse Robredo.
