Robredo delivers epic clapback to Veloso over her removal as Duterte’s successor: 200K ang lamang ko kay Bongbong, ikaw wala pang 100!
Vice President Leni Robredo has turned the tables on Leyte Rep. Vicente Veloso after he claimed that she was removed as President Rodrigo Duterte’s successor in the draft Constitution because of the ongoing poll protest involving her.
In an interview in Bacolod City Wednesday (October 10) it was “laughable” that Veloso will bring up the poll protest filed by former senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. considering his own victory is also under question before the House of Representatives Electoral Tribunal (HRET).
Addressing the lawmaker, Robredo said: “Ipapaalala ko lang sa kaniya na ako, iyong lamang ko kay Mr. Marcos, more than 200,000. Siya, iyong lamang niya sa eleksyon, less than 100. Mayroon ding protest laban sa kaniya.”
“Gusto bang sabihin, dapat sana before natapos iyong protest case, huwag muna siyang umupo bilang congressman, at hindi muna niya puwedeng gawin iyong mandato niya dahil mayroong protest?” she added.
Veloso won by a slim margin over the Liberal Party’s candidate, Ma. Victoria David, in the 2016 elections.
Section 4, Paragraph 2 of the transitory provisions Resolution of Both Houses (RBH 15) authored by House Speaker Gloria Macapagal Arroyo states that the Senate President will succeed the President in case he resigns or cannot do his job.
Veloso, who chairs the House committee on constitutional amendments that approved RBH 15, said that the controversial provision was included since there was still “uncertainty” over who the Vice President is due to the poll protest.
A former Court of Appeals justice, Veloso said it was possible that the PET may flip-flop on its decision on the poll protest in the coming years.
