Vice President Leni Robredo believes former senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. wants his poll protest to drag on to gain publicity even though he’s no longer in public office.
In an interview over ANC’s “Headstart” Monday (October 28), Robredo said prolonging the poll protest gives Marcos a “platform to continue making the public believe his lies.”
“Gusto niya talagang tumuloy ito, eh. Gusto niyang tumuloy ito until the very end kasi mayroon siyang platform, parati siyang nasa balita. Pero kami, ‘di ba, iyong parang, iyong sa amin iyong pagduda ng public,” she said.
Robredo said doubts about her victory in the 2016 elections persist as long as the Supreme Court, sitting as the Presidential Electoral Tribunal, does not dismiss the poll protest.
“Until hindi siya nadidismiss, lalo na iyong mga supporters niya, talagang paniwalang-paniwala sa kasinungalingan na sinasabi niya,” she said, referring to Marcos.
The PET recently asked the camps of Robredo and Marcos to comment on the report on the initial recount of votes, which showed the Vice President gaining 15,000 votes.
Robredo is hopeful the PET will dismiss Marcos’ poll protest as soon as possible because he failed to gain a substantial number of votes in the ballot recount.
