Robredo should be given authority in appointing DILG, PDEA chiefs – Quimbo

A stalwart of the opposition Liberal Party (LP) believed Vice President Leni Robredo should be given a free hand in choosing her own team after she accepted her appointment as co-chair of the Duterte administration’s Inter-Agency Committee on Anti-Illegal Drugs (ICAD).
Marikina City Rep. Stella Luz Quimbo said if Malacañang is really sincere with its offer to Robredo, she should be given enough resources and authority to be able to perform her new role in the cabinet of President Rodrigo Duterte.
“Sabi naman po ng Sec. (Salvador) Panelo, ito naman po ay sincere offer. So sa aking palagay ng sincere offer, ibig sabihin siya ay mabibigyan ng sapat na resources at sapat na power para magampanan niya effectivelty ang function na ‘yan,” said Quimbo.
Duterte on Tuesday named Robredo as Co-Chairperson of the Inter-Agency Committee on Anti-Illegal Drugs (ICAD) amidst her opposition to the controversial drug war policy of the chief executive.
Quimbo stressed that Robredo must have leeway in choosing her team since she’s about to lead Duterte’s campaign against illegal drugs which she earlier describe as a total failure.
“At sana naman ito, personal na opinion, sana meron din siyang leeway para piliin ang mga kasama niya kanyang team—puwede niyang dalahin ang kanyang mga tauhan halimbawa,” said Quimbo.
She added that it would be best of Robredo will be allowed appoint important heads of government agencies involved in the drug war particularly in the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA).
“Kung puwede sana, puwede na mapili ang mga heads ng mga importanteng ahensya tulad ng PDEA at DILG why not?,” said Quimbo.
