The camp of Vice President Leni Robredo defended her absence during the Tuesday’s (July 11) preliminary conference of the election protest of former Senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. where the two were supposed to face each other.

“Talagang hindi naman siya dadalo dahil mayroon siyang appointment sa probinsiya nila sa Naga,” said her counsel, election lawyer Romulo Macalintal during an interview with DZRH.

“At saka hindi naman siya required kasi na siya ay dumalo doon sa preliminary hearing,” he also pointed out.

Marcos was present during the preliminary conference held before the Supreme Court (SC) sitting as Presidential Electoral Tribunal (PET).

Also on Tuesday, Marcos fully paid the P66 million required by the PET from him for his election protest.

On the other hand, Robredo still has to pay P7.4 million out of the P15.4 million asked by PET.
