The mother of Vice President Leni Robredo, Salvacion Gerona, has died Saturday (February 22).

Robredo announced her mother’s death in a Facebook post.

“Mommy breathed her last at 7:27 tonight, February 22,” she said

Robredo said the wake for her mother will start Sunday (February 23) at the Eternal Chapels and Mortuary, Eternal Gardens, Balatas Road, Naga City.

Funeral details will be announced in the coming days, she added.

“Thank you to everyone who offered prayers and sent condolences,” Robredo said.

In January, Robredo asked for prayers as her mother “turned for the worst.” Gerona’s condition prompted the Vice President to travel to Naga City amid the relief efforts she was leading for victims of Taal Volcano’s eruption.

Gerona was a teacher at Universidad de Sta. Isabel in Naga City, one of the oldest schools in the country.
